Contemporary learning space design - How evidence-based design can shape tomorrow's higher education.

"We've always done it this way" - behavioral conditioning, row seating, factual knowledge: the current teaching practice may seem outdated in some places. Above all, static learning spaces and frontal formats no longer seem contemporary. Design matters: Many architecture and furniture manufacturers therefore integrate research-based knowledge (about cognitive, physical and psychological needs) into the design of learning spaces and their equipment (e.g. furniture, technology and equipment). Research-based design works to understand which strategies for the built space support learning. Both in the physical and digital spheres. A “learning ecosystem” translates these findings into concrete solutions. Let's redesign our teaching so that students can learn better. It is their future we are preparing them for.
